Basic Online BackGammon Rules.

Backgammon is a simple yet strategic game. It is easy to learn, and the playing time is relatively short per game so it is often played in tournaments or matches, eg the best of 5, the best of 7 etc. Game and match in Backgammon are terms that are similar to tennis, so you might say, "I won 3 games in a row, but he won 5 games overall and I lost the match.

In online backgammon, just as in real backgammon, you are aiming to get all of your pieces past your opponent's pieces. Your pieces can be all over the board early on and may be blocked or captured by your opponent.

Each side of the board has twelve spaces, called points which are made up of long triangles of switching colour. The points are spilt by a break in the middle and on one edge of the board, making a continuous loop of 24 points in a U shape. The points are numbered from 1 to 24. You move your pieces from high numbers to lower numbers. The players move their pieces in opposite directions, so "home" for one player is "away" for the other.

Both players with 2 pieces on the 24-point, 3 pieces on the 8-point, and 5 checkers each on both the 13-point and the 6-point.
